having done a few polar bear challenges let me tell ya having the water really cold can actually help a bit. If you lose all feeling in your body in the first second the rest of the time doesn't really mater. The part I hate is when the water is cold but not inst-numbing cold so then you just have to sit in it and suffer.

Part of the training to become a Brave in some Native American tribes, involved hardening yourself to the elements. One of which involved sitting in an ice-cold stream until your training master decided you could get out.

I believe Tauren, by virtue of growing up doing it, are immune to cold water.
